Follow-up Comment #17, bug #45509 (project octave):

I see that, let's see where it's coming from. What's the output of the
following on your system?


/usr/local/bin/octave-4.0.0 --norc --no-history --silent --eval
'disp(octave_config_info.HDF5_CPPFLAGS)' | hexdump -C


then try the same with the --no-line-editing option added.

I think this escape sequence is coming from readline, I am not sure which
configuration option is doing that because it doesn't for me.
