Follow-up Comment #3, bug #45813 (project octave):

I think it is rather canonicalize_file_name() that screws up file separators
than filesep() itself: it stubbornly morphs native file seps ("\"on Windows)
into forward slashes.

I rather use make_absolute_filename() in my scripts as that leaves Windows
file seps intact.
