Details:

Attempting to build communications 1.2.1 against current dev branch of octave
fails as it can not find header "ls-oct-ascii.h"

This file was removed in dev octave via commit 
http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/c6224b4e7774
