Follow-up Comment #20, bug #43505 (project octave):

We do want quantum 16, but we can't do it because imread/imwrite failure.

please see comment#17, the command

jobj = javaObject ("java.lang.StringBuffer"); 

is the reason for the failure. How can we fix this?
