Follow-up Comment #1, bug #46645 (project octave): This change was intentional: http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/f2b8f90052fd As I recall, this wasn't a change I really wanted to make, but one I eventually agreed to do so that people could use structs more like dictionaries.
