Follow-up Comment #1:

Confirmed on a Linux platform as well.  This is a regression from 3.8.2.  The
development version which will become 4.2 does not have this issue so it
appears to have been fixed.  But I don't know what changeset fixed it and thus
whether a fix will be backported.
