Details:

When I use surface to draw sections of 3d data with "FaceColor" set to
"texturemap", the "oldest" surface with this option fails to draw correctly
(only one color). The following warning is displayed in the command window:

warning: opengl_texture::create: OpenGL error while generating texture data


Subsequent surfaces with this option set, draw correctly.

The warning message repeats everytime, I touch the figure (change view, add
surface, zoom, ...).

Please, see the attached example. Starting line 21 is where it gets strange:
The drawing error moves over to the oldest surface with "FaceColor" set to
"texturemap"...
