Follow-up Comment #53, bug #46795 (project octave):

@Torsten:
I don't see a crash when having a function in the editor while that function
is not in the path, and entering a dbstop condition by RMB-ing next to a
line.
Indeed I see the pop-up then but if I add the function's directory to the
path, or cd to it's directory, or press Cancel, Octave just runs on fine.

What else did you do to provoke the crash?
