homebrew developer Xu Cheng claims that this is an Octave bug. However, it
seems to me he didn't ever tried to install Octave and it was based on
information by one of their users "spundun".

I was trying to do install Octave in a Mac system last month and did have
issues linking with the correct java. Not being aware of the issue at the
time, I didn't dig deep into it. I will take a while until I get another go at
a Mac.
