Follow-up Comment #1:

Thanks for the report. The posted example works for me in a figure on Debian.
After zooming with the mouse and turning zoom mode off again, both functions
are called. Can anyone confirm that this is not working on Windows? Any
difference with 4.0.1-rc3?
