Follow-up Comment #2, bug #47216 (project octave):
Rik, you're right that uicontrol triggers a redraw, but not all callbacks do.
The attached file shows that a mouse button-up callback doesn't. (I shouldn't
have mentioned uicontrol -- I was just trying to emphasize that this isn't
about the Octave GUI itself.)
Click on a few points on the axes. The script tries to draw a line to each
click, but they don't appear until the uicontrol (with empty callback) is
clicked, or the mouse moves out of the window.
