Details:

The import() function is not yet implemented in Octave:
  http://www.mathworks.com/help/matlab/ref/import.html

I attach a workaround implementation that edits the function search path to
approximate the expected behavior when possible. This is obviously not the
right way to implement this functionality but some might still find it useful
until the function is appropriately implemented.
