Follow-up Comment #20, bug #35881 (project octave):

Ok.  My translation of the comment #13 is that any function defined within a
currently executing m-file is preserved.  This includes the top-level function
which shares the name of the m-file, it includes subfunctions, and it includes
nested functions.

I think this is possible becaause I believe Octave's symbol table records the
file name where a function is stored.
