Follow-up Comment #91, bug #44478 (project octave):

Responding to comment #90, wouldn't having two identical function names in two
different libraries produce some sort of warning or error during the link
phase?  Or if it doesn't, is there a way to turn on verbose messages during
the link to make that happen?

If this is really about the link process rather than the code then it might be
good to take jwe's example and separate it out into a compile stage command
and a link command so that you could focus on the piece that was actually the
problem.
