Follow-up Comment #111, bug #44478 (project octave):

Slow is better than the documentation failing every time one tries to build
Octave.  I realize the bug is more about __osmesa_print__ crashing than the
documentation, but disabling that test for the short term is an easy solution.
 Long term there is going to need to be some work.

I'm going to try and see if I can use GLEW to at least recognize the presence
of framebuffer support.  If that can be done, then that is an easy runtime
conditional that can be used anywhere in Octave, be it __osmesa_print__, to
check whether we should expect malfunction if OSMesa OpenGL commands are
used.
