Follow-up Comment #5, bug #48082 (project octave):
I don't think there is a way to remove the comment, but even if there were,
I'd leave it because it raises a good point. I spent a few hours trying to
track down a way to give a more informative syntax error, but I don't
understand that section of the code well enough.
