Follow-up Comment #14, bug #44823 (project octave):

It would be good if this could be fixed or worked around for 4.2.0.

Would it be possible simply to detect vulnerable systems, and set ("visible",
"off") before printing?  That would only address issue 2 of comment #13, which
is the less critical one.
