Thanks for that data point, Dmitri.
It sounds like you are saying that the ssh issue isn't an Octave issue.
However, the blocker here is the (in)ability to print to a file on a single
computer. That _does_ seem to be an Octave problem -- at least inasmuch as we
need to work around any limitations of OpenGL so that printing is possible
somehow.
