Follow-up Comment #2, bug #48494 (project octave):

I don't think there should be a problem with the
application::forced_interactive functions because they just access data that
is stored in the application object.

The application::interactive functions do currently require that the
interpreter is initialized before they can be called.  But, again, I don't see
where that can occur and I need to know where that is happening before I can
decide how to properly fix the problem.
