Unfortunately we have no checks in place right now that bootstrap has been
run. The build will either fail or it will produce unexpected results like
this. I'm guessing that's what happened, the frexp functions in libgnu were
not used and the system versions were used instead. In another case it might
be a function from gnulib that doesn't exist on the system, and it will show
up as a build error.
