Details:

On the email list Tatsuro asked how to preserve gnuplot_binary so that a
"clear all" would not clear his setting for the gnuplot binary.

It seems likely that preserving the binary was intended, but not implemented
(an oversight?). I've attached a patch.

Before pushing, the patch should be tested.
