Follow-up Comment #16, bug #48013 (project octave):

you are right... 
I mixed up: also javaObject performs boxing 
but only in the parameters, 
no unboxing in return values of course. 
(my brain is aging???? :O/ )

and you are right, the methods you provide are the best way to test. 

I think we later have to add a separate class for tests only, 
but for this bug this is not needed. 

So now, you provide the tests and we can close the bug? 

(except documentation and the minor patch I pointed to below)? 
If so, I would like to add a separate section 
in the manual on boxing and unboxing.
