With octave-4.1.0+ hg id 6cbbd550aa91 ("allow subsasgn.."), Octave still
crashes with the example in the orginal report for n=12.
FWIW, Octave crashes while still only the first complete blue rectangle has
been drawn. But maybe that is a red herring due to multithreading?
