Update of bug #49161 (project octave):

                  Status:                    None => Confirmed

Follow-up Comment #1:

This is the PDF form of the manual, right?

I see the pale diagonal lines you describe in hist.pdf only, and only when
built with OpenGL and OSMesa. The following command specifically, for me on my
system (Intel integrated graphics), reproduces this problem:

./run-octave --no-history --norc --silent --path
~/src/octave/default/doc/interpreter/ --eval "plotimages ('doc/interpreter/',
'hist', 'pdf');"

If I unset DISPLAY, which forces gnuplot to be used instead, then I get the
correct image without the pale diagonal lines.

The files hist.eps and hist.png do *not* exhibit this same artifact, at least
for me.

Attached hist.pdf here, in case others are not able to reproduce.
