Hartmut,
Even when the GUI editor had no line ending option this bug was there, i.e.,
when reading .m files with CRLF endings. But admittedly it was a very
concealed bug at that.
Maybe you can browse the Qscintilla bug tracker (if it exists at all, I do not
know) for a relevant bug report?
I think I'll enter a bug report for the comment character.
