Follow-up Comment #3, bug #49203 (project octave):

The issue happens for newly created files, not just edited/resaved files.
Would this still be a related concern? 

Will run through those test scripts shortly. Also, since the file shows up
immediately in the File Browser and before the interpreter acknowledges it's
existence, I'll pay attention to the time/date modified value in File Browser
to see if it registers an updated timestamp right away or not.
