Follow-up Comment #15, bug #49609 (project octave): I have now also tried using the .desktop file that is built and installed along with Octave 4.2.0. It uses "Exec=/opt/octave-4.2.0/bin/octave --force-gui %f". But then I also DO get the crash. Side note: * The .desktop file that is generated during the installation of Octave is very well hidden in the folder /octave/etc/icons. Would it make sense to move it to somehwere where it can be found more easily? Maybe to /octave or to /octave/bin ? * This "official" .desktop file also does NOT properly use the Octave icon (it has a funny "Icon=octave", can this work?). This makes it look very boring when used.
