Follow-up Comment #5, bug #49612 (project octave):
I can now CONFIRM this behavior on a WIN7 machine: The checkboxes and their
tickmarks look fine with Octave 4.0.3, but with Octave 4.2.0 (w64) the
tickmarks are displayed much too small. The display setting is only 125% in my
case, so I would like to conclude that this is not due to any high-dpi
scaling. And this is a proper regression.
Wasn't there a change in the Octave generated dialog windows? Are those now
all generated by qt, and before they were in some settings generated
differently?
@jsh: You could ask Philip Nienhuis to download his mxe-octave built with qt5
(see bug #43099 comment #34) and see if those work better in this respect.
