Follow-up Comment #14, bug #49718 (project octave):

@Rik, comment #12: there is no system call in gl2ps. When we need to
postprocess the generated eps, we copy the content of gl2ps temporary FILE
into a file stream (pipe) after gl2ps has returned. 
The stream is created before the call to gl2ps using octave_popen. 

So it may also be the call to octave_popen that is failing when the name of
the targeted external executable contains parents.
