Follow-up Comment #8, bug #49834 (project octave):

John, I am sorry to say I can no longer replicate this bug and you should
close the ticket.

At some point, while following your instructions, the response to my entry of
"upfirdn" changed from 


error: 'upfirdn' undefined near line 1 column 1

to

warning: the 'upfirdn' function belongs to the signal package from Octave
Forge which seems to not be installed in your system


I went through my history to make absolutely sure it was not just a typo
before. Some change must have taken place during the repeat of all the
installation instructions, and I cannot replcate what happened.
