Follow-up Comment #3, bug #50079 (project octave):
I looked at this a bit more and discovered what is happening:
The problem is with the rendering of the PDF. My plot is
actually 6 subplots (2x3). If I zoom in enough the color shows
up. The color that I was using was blue, which did not help
make it more obvious.
So, time to close this report. Sorry for the bother.
