Follow-up Comment #14, bug #50102 (project octave):

Also of note is that


if (r > rmax) {}
do {
  if (c > cmax) {}
  etc.
}


can reduce the CPU consumed because that r > rmax is redundant within the
inner loop.  Not that big of a savings as there is plenty other instructions
such as reading/saving the data.
