Follow-up Comment #21, bug #50102 (project octave):

I checked in a simple change to have rmax increase in powers of 2 as it is
supposed to.


-              rmax = 2 * std::max (r-1, static_cast<octave_idx_type> (1));
+              rmax = std::max (2*(r-1), rmax);
