Details:

There are a few cases where valid (in MATLAB) marker / color combinations do
not work in Octave.


>> plot(1:10,'square') # works

>> plot(1:10,'sq')
error: plot: properties must appear followed by a value
error: called from
    __plt__ at line 96 column 15
    plot at line 223 column 10



>> plot(1:10,'or') # works

>> plot(1:10,'ored')
error: plot: properties must appear followed by a value
error: called from
    __plt__ at line 96 column 15
    plot at line 223 column 10
