Follow-up Comment #1:
Confirmed. And I moved the version up to the development branch since it is
still present in the latest code.
It's clearly something specifically with cell. An array function like zeros
works correctly.
zeros (1e10,1)
error: out of memory or dimension too large for Octave's index type
The dimension that is too large, which should be triggering an exception and
an error message, instead is getting set to 0. For example:
b = cell (1e10, 2, 2)
b = {0x2x2 Cell Array}
