Yeah it would be a hard sell :-)

That leaves us with adapting unpack.m / unzip.m / gunzip.m.
Again I'd rather do this in a central place (i.e., core Octave) rather than
for individual functions in an OF package.

BTW I mentioned before there is a similar bug report where this issue with zip
was also mentioned and where (IIRC) Mike figured it would be a (fast SSD/HD)
driver issue. But I failed to dig it up.
I'll cc him, hopefully he still remembers where it was.
(as it may help to tackle/close that bug report as well.)
...oh but he IS cc'd...

@Markus, now that I got some issues out of the way with mxe cross-builds I'll
review and push your patch from comment #25, thanks for your patience :-)
