Follow-up Comment #20, bug #51512 (project octave):

I've been playing a little with the regexps as well, will report when I'm back
(after 21th).
In the mean time, note that Excel reads the file faster than the time Octave's
str2double() needs to just process the numeric cell values.

BTW there is a ref to OOXML's date format, I'll dig it up for you next week.
