Follow-up Comment #1, bug #51859 (project octave): Octave uses libsndfile to read and write audio files. Unfortunately, it does not support mp3 (yet). [1] With respect to the *.wav file, could you please download the attached file and store it in the same folder as your *.wav files. Then try the following in Octave: mkoctfile audioinfo2.cc -lsndfile -DHAVE_SNDFILE audioinfo2 ('08.wav') That should produce a more verbose error message. Please copy and paste it here.
