Understood.

Caught me by surprise that it worked at all. Working with someone who's
apparently 'always done it that way' with Matlab so their scripts look
funny over here.

I'm guessing Matlab does a property-value pair check before deciding
anything is a label, as it seems you can intermix labels and property-value
pairs randomly.  Out of curiosity, anyone know if there are other Matlab
functions where property-value pair calls act in a similar fashion?
