Follow-up Comment #15, bug #51830 (project octave): I don't think we are using the gnulib gethostname wrapper, I think configure is detecting that it is not necessary. I do not see a libgnu/.libs/gethostname.o in my last mxe-octave build log. So it looks like we do need to somehow initiate the WSAStartup function before gethostname is called in the gnulib uname replacement.
