Follow-up Comment #1:
Confirmed with 4.2.1, but I have verified that this has been fixed on the
development version of Octave. I'll leave this open, but I'm not sure there
is enough bandwidth from developers or interest to figure out how to backport
a fix. It's not clear that there will even be a 4.2.2 bug fix release or
whether the next version will jump to 4.4.0.
