Follow-up Comment #3, bug #52487 (project octave):
The fltk toolkit fails, while the gnuplot toolkit seems to work just fine for
plot(1). After trying this I ran graphics_toolkit gnuplot, followed by 2D
figures with subplots, lines, and points. All worked as expected.
