Follow-up Comment #16, bug #52647 (project octave):
It would be helpful to run
erase('this is it',['this';'is'])
under Matlab. Does it really produce an error and refuse to run?
Octave is a superset of Matlab so if they don't handle this input case then we
are free to choose our own solution.
