Follow-up Comment #28, bug #50025 (project octave):

I'm now able to build with Qt5 using the default branch. The Qt patch ((file
#41891) prevents the hang on exit, but the 1st debug fprintf(stderr,...) is
needed to prevent the GUI from hanging on exit. I'm attaching a simpler
version of the patch which reduces the fprintf content to \n.

At this point, I think we need a Linux user to test the patch to confirm that
it doesn't break anything.
