Follow-up Comment #23, bug #52775 (project octave): I agree with Rik in https://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/octave-maintainers/2018-01/msg00033.html, I don't think we want different manual output for different versions of Texinfo. I wouldn't want the table of contents or index to look different between the HTML and the PDF versions. So if this sorting feature is very important, then I think we just need to say it requires Texinfo 6.1 and be done with it.
