Details:

I tested changeset 24644:e04a56630c8a on Fedora 27 KDE, and encountered a
segfault when trying to save an .m file.

I attached the output of the following gdb commands:

gdb octave 2>&1 | tee ~/gdb-octave.txt
set follow-fork-mode child
run
<creating file & trying to save it>
backtrace full
info registers
x/16i $pc
thread apply all backtrace

Not sure if this could be related to https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?52423
