Follow-up Comment #1, bug #52988 (project octave):

Thanks for the feedback.  I've mostly been focusing on making the transfer of
data between the interpreter and the gui simpler and more reliable.  Since
this work turned into mostly rewriting things, it's not surprising that I lost
a few features.

I agree that if a cell is a scalar value, it should be possible to edit it
directly instead of opening a separate tab just for that.  I'll try to fix
that tomorrow.

After that, I was planning to make editing struct arrays work.

Also, does Matlab allow editing of character arrays?  I mean things created
with single quotes: ['foo'; 'bar'], not string objects.
