Follow-up Comment #3, bug #53081 (project octave):

A derived class of QTabWidget is used for solving the problem with the
protected tabBar function. This has already been used for the editor. I just
missed to declare m_tab_widget with the derived class.

should already have fixed this. Maybe that's why you have not seen the build
error (comment #2)?
