Follow-up Comment #1, bug #53099 (project octave):

I see that on my win10 machine

using the command line, rather than octave, and running configure etc, there
are not oct files except the ones you mentioned.

Running manually:

$ mkoctfile  -Wall -g -O2 __spatial_filtering__.cc

does not produce an oct file, and appears to return straight away.

Running

$ mkoctfile __spatial_filtering__.cc

does produce the oct file
