What worked ? Before cset 45470049a43f there was no explicit use of
framebuffer objects in Octave code. It looks like swrast does not do well with
this opengl extension.

Well, at the very least, it tells us that it is not Octave specific, that it
is not Qt specific and that it is not a good idea to do this LD_PRELOAD :-).
BTW, why do you use LD_PRELOAD?
